For larger and more complex projects PComm recommend Lambda Communications Ltd who offer independent engineering, design, installation and project management to contractors, vendors and telecommunication system operators within New Zealand and overseas.

The government department which manages the legislation covering radio services is a department within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (previously the Ministry of Economic Development).

Most radio systems require an individual licence to operate which can only be obtained through an Approved Radio Engineer such as PComm Ltd.  However there are some systems which may operate under general user licences.  These include:

• Low Power FM Broadcasting which is permitted at each end of the FM broadcast band.  For details go to the General User Licence for Low Power FMBC.

• Short Range Devices as used for WiFi, low power telemetry and many other systems. For details go to the General User Licence for SRD.

• Wireless Microphones which operate in vacant spaces within the band used for UHF TV transmissions.  For further details go to the Spectrum Licences for Wireless Microphones.
